Children's Privacy Notice

Scholarix is built for classrooms, so many of the people who use it are children. This notice explains in plain words how we protect them.

Version 1.0, in effect from 25 October 2026

This is a draft awaiting legal review. It describes how Scholarix works today and may change before the public launch.

How children join

  • With a class code: a student under 16 can join with a code from their school or teacher. The school or teacher confirms that they hold the consent needed to enrol their students.
  • With a parent's approval: a student under 16 without a class code gives a parent's or guardian's email address. The account stays closed until the parent approves it, and it is deleted if nobody approves it within 7 days.
  • Students aged 16 or over can sign up themselves.
  • We ask students only for their birth month and year, to apply these rules.

What we collect from students

A student's name, email address, birth month and year, the classes they join, and what they write and say in Scholarix: their questions to the assistant and tutors, and the answers. We collect only what a student needs to learn with their class.

What we never do

  • We don't show advertising to students or sell their data.
  • We don't use students' conversations to train AI models.
  • We don't make students' profiles public.
  • Students can't send messages to other students in Scholarix.

Keeping conversations safe

Students' messages to the assistant and tutors, and the replies, are checked automatically for harmful content, such as self-harm, bullying, sexual or violent material, and attempts to make the AI ignore its rules. A message that fails the check isn't answered, and the student sees a kind explanation instead. Serious signals, such as a risk of self-harm, are sent to the student's teachers and school administrators so that an adult can follow up.

Tutors are set up by teachers and answer from the material the teacher provides.

What teachers and schools see

Teachers see who is in their classes, which posts students have viewed, and excerpts that the safety checks have flagged. They don't read students' other conversations.

What parents can do

A parent or guardian can ask to see their child's data, correct it or have it deleted, or withdraw consent, which closes the account. Write to info@scholarix.online. If the child joined through a school, we may involve the school, which manages its students' accounts.
